The one-alarm fire started in a West Joppa Road rental property.

No one was reported injured as fire crews responded to an early-afternoon fire Monday in West Towson.

The one-alarm blaze in the 400 block of West Joppa Road, at the corner of Morningside Drive was reported at approximately 1 p.m., and under control by 1:40 p.m. Four engines, including rews from Towson and Texas fire stations and Providence and Lutherville volunteer fire companies, responded.

The home is a rental property. The owner was not present, but some of the tenants were.

"At first it was like a little bit of smoke, then it was like a little more, a little more, a little more," said Roy Nickols, who was there to pick up his sister and arrived shortly before the fire trucks came to the scene.
