State Trooper Struck, Injured During I-83 Traffic Stop
The trooper was hit while issuing a citation shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday.
A Maryland state trooper was hurt in a hit-and-run incident on Interstate 83 near Ruxton Road early Sunday morning, according to state police.
Shortly after 1 a.m., Trooper First Class Jason M. James was on the side of the highway, issuing a citation to another driver. Another car, described as a gold or tan four-door passenger car, struck James and pushed him against the stopped car, according to a police press release.
James, 30, was wearing a reflective jacket, and all of his car's lights were on at the time of the accident, according to state police.

James was able to use his radio to call for help. The four-year veteran was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
