Police think Brooks was driving a 2017 Mercedes in a street race with an unknown vehicle.

Troopers believe Brooks lost control of his car while speeding and hit a 2006 Jeep Liberty.

The Jeep was not involved in the race and no injuries were reported in that car, authorities said.

"The deadly crash is a reminder of the dangers of speeding and aggressive driving," state police said in a press release. "Maryland State Police implore motorists to obey the speed limit, avoid aggressive, distracted, impaired driving and please buckle up."
