Students Will Explore Story of America in Baltimore's National Parks
Baltimore received a field trip grant from the National Park Foundation to support the Every Kid in a Park program.

Baltimore is one of nine cities across the United States selected to receive a 2016 field trip grant from the National Park Foundation to support the Every Kid in a Park program. These funds will help us to bring Baltimore City’s fourth-grade students to visit Hampton National Historic Site in Towson, and the Gwynns Falls Trail of the Baltimore National Heritage Area.
Every Kid in a Park is part of President Obama’s commitment to protect our nation’s unique outdoor spaces and ensure that every American has the opportunity to visit and enjoy them. The program, now entering its second year, is a call to action for children to experience America’s spectacular outdoors, rich history and culture.

On these field trips students will tour the Ridgely family’s Georgian mansion, Hampton Hall, and explore the grounds and gardens of Hampton National Historic Site. They will learn about 200 years of life in the mid-Atlantic region and the great variety of stories of American social, cultural, and economic development that Hampton offers. Along the Gwynns Falls Trail, students will have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and explore the woodland parks of the Trail.
For many students this will be their first visit to a National Park Service site. Through Every Kid in a Park we can inspire the next generation to discover all that our nation’s public lands and waters have to offer, including opportunities to be active, spend time with friends and family, and serve as living classrooms to build critical skills.
