A Family Affair Children's Center

We have a full preschool program serving children ages two through five years old. We use creative curriculum which is a theme based, teacher created curriculum. We have a music teacher who comes once a week and we take several field trips a year. Our 2’s and 3’s Program In our 2’s and 3’s room we focus on helping children master self-care tasks such as toilet-training and using cups and forks as well as building social skills. We also lay the foundation for future academic learning with the basics such as the alphabet, colors, and basic math skills such as patterns and counting. Our 4’s and 5’s Program Our 4’s and 5’s program focuses on Kindergarten readiness. We cover all developmental areas including literacy, math concepts, science, social skills, music, and art all couched within a fun and interactive theme such as “Animals” or “The Beach.” Learning activities related to each of those topics are done throughout the week. Before and After School Care We provide before and after school care for children who attend Pine Grove or Harford Hills Elementary. We are open when schools are closed. We do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as: ○ Table games ○ Crafts ○ Legos ○ Outdoor play We also offer homework help, a morning and afternoon snack. Children are picked up and dropped off from the center by the BCPS bus system. Summer Camp We offer a school age summer camp for Kindergarten—5th graders. If you've felt that what Allegheny Avenue needs is a good burrito, you're in luck. The ground floor restaurant space at the Penthouse condominiums at 28 Allegheny Ave., once occupied by , has been re-leased to a group planning to build a Tex-Mex restaurant, called El Rodeo. "Apparently they've been extremely successful elsewhere," said Bernie Ruocco, manager of Ravens Penthouse, which owns the first-floor space. He referred most questions to Neil Kamal, the new restaurant's owner. When I drove by earlier this week, the windows at Taste were mostly papered over and some power tools could be spotted on the floor inside. Taste was for failing to pay their rent.
