Towson Grad To Throw Out First Pitch at Orioles Game

By Jeff Seidel

Rhonda Blankenship, a 1995 graduate of Towson University, will get to throw out the first ball at the Orioles-Seattle game Sunday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

It's a perk for having been named 2013 Maryland Teacher of the Year, according to a news release from the Orioles.

Blankenship teaches 10th- and 11th-grade language arts at Rising Sun High School in Cecil County, her home county, it states.

The Cecil County native graduated summa cum laude from Towson. After that, she earned a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from McDaniel College, according to the release.

These days she's involved in writing curriculum for Cecil County students. She also takes part in professional learning communities, helps school and county professional development and works with student teachers, it states.
