Towson Lags Behind Baltimore in 'Walkability'

The website ranked Baltimore as one of the most pedestrian friendly big cities in America.

For the first time since the website Walk Score, which rates communities based on residents ability to get around without a car, rated Baltimore City in it’s top 10, but Towson still lags behind.

Walk Score grades Towson at 48 out of a possible 100 meaning that most errands in the community require a resident to have a car. Meanwhile Baltimore, with a walk score of 66, is rated the tenth most “walkable” large city in the nation.

New developments have started to emphasize a mixture of retail and residential because more and more residents have expressed a desire to not to get behind the wheel if they don’t have to.  Meanwhile other residents oppose such developments because it makes an area feel too urban.
