Towson Manor Residents To Rally Against New Firehouse

Towson Manor Village residents are planning to protest the possible contruction of a fire station at a nearby community park during a Thursday afternoon rally. 

After much speculation, the county confirmed in a news release Tuesday that Towson Manor Park, which sits on Towsontown Boulevard between East Towson and Towson Green, has been identified as a prospective site for the new station. The current one, located at the corner of York Road and Bosley Avenue, will be sold.

In an email, Towson Manor resident Megan Saunders shared that community members are staging a protest against the fire station construction at Towson Manor Park on Thursday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Protestors are meeting at 4 p.m.

"Essentially our viewpoint is that it's disappointing that our park is still in consideration," said Saunders, a mother of four who has resided at Towson Manor for more than 11 years. "It's the only green space we have."

County officials are also intending to sell the Randallstown Police Substation and North Point Government Center in Dundalk.

According to the news release, funds from the sales of these buildings will first cover the costs of replacement facilities, and the remainder will benefit school capital improvement projects.
