Here are a few local ideas as you look for gifts and flowers ahead of Feb. 14.

You don't have to go far to get something special for your significant other this Valentine's Day. Some of the coolest deals are available right here in Towson.
Patti Lasover, owner of , said handmade jewelry will likely be her top seller.
"Earrings are always a big seller for Valentine's Day," said Lasover. "I think anything that has sentimentality, or somebody's fav stone. I find that men usually will come in and buy a necklace and earrings."

Lasover carries high-end items like freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals and can incorporate them into custom designs. She also offers free wrapping for Valentine's Day.

Just down the street, will be hosting a "gents' night" on Thursday, Feb. 9 from 5 to 9 p.m. with wine, cheese and other refreshments, plus up to 60 percent off jewelry to help men finish their Valentine's Day shopping.

Spencer Fastie, marketing director for Radebaugh, said the florist is expecting plenty of orders.
"A lot of people are predicing it to be one of the better Valentine's Days in the last few years since the economy has taken a turn for the worse. they're expecting quite a rebound this year," Fastie said. "It always works out better for florists in part when it doesn't land near or on the weekend."
