A Family Affair Children's Center

We have a full preschool program serving children ages two through five years old. We use creative curriculum which is a theme based, teacher created curriculum. We have a music teacher who comes once a week and we take several field trips a year. Our 2’s and 3’s Program In our 2’s and 3’s room we focus on helping children master self-care tasks such as toilet-training and using cups and forks as well as building social skills. We also lay the foundation for future academic learning with the basics such as the alphabet, colors, and basic math skills such as patterns and counting. Our 4’s and 5’s Program Our 4’s and 5’s program focuses on Kindergarten readiness. We cover all developmental areas including literacy, math concepts, science, social skills, music, and art all couched within a fun and interactive theme such as “Animals” or “The Beach.” Learning activities related to each of those topics are done throughout the week. Before and After School Care We provide before and after school care for children who attend Pine Grove or Harford Hills Elementary. We are open when schools are closed. We do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as: ○ Table games ○ Crafts ○ Legos ○ Outdoor play We also offer homework help, a morning and afternoon snack. Children are picked up and dropped off from the center by the BCPS bus system. Summer Camp We offer a school age summer camp for Kindergarten—5th graders. Marcia Welsh, provost and briefly its interim president, is a finalist for two university presidencies, according to news reports. Welsh is one of three candidates for an opening at <a href="http://www.esu.edu/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">East Stroudsburg University</a> and one of four finalists at the <a href="http://www.uindy.edu/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">University of Indianapolis</a>. <a href="http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20120310/NEWS/203100312/-1/NEWS01" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">According to the Pocono Record</a>, the candidates for East Stroudsburg (located in northeastern Pennsylvania) recently visited the campus for meetings with faculty and staff. According to an <a href="http://news.uindy.edu/2012/03/09/finalists-named-in-uindy-presidential-search/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Indianapolis press release</a>, Welsh and the other three finalists for that position will travel there later this month to meet with faculty and staff. Welsh came to Towson as provost in 2009 from <a href="http://www.adelphi.edu" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Adelphi University</a>. When then-President Robert Caret to take the presidency at the University of Massachusetts, Welsh . During her time at the helm, she attempted to improve community relations—for example, by inviting community leaders to football games.
