Towson Visits Connecticut To Open 2013 Football Season

Head coach Rob Ambrose and the Towson Tigers visit Connecticut to kick off what looks to be a promising season of college football.

Even if his young Tigers won't be, Rob Ambrose will be heading into familiar territory Thursday night.

The Towson football coach leads his alma mater against Connecticut—the program where he served as offensive coordinator prior to taking over the Tigers.

The Tigers and UConn Huskies face off at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast online via ESPN3.

Towson, ranked No. 11 in the preseason by The Sports Network, is looking to make a statement after finishing 2012 just outside of the playoffs.

The Tigers are also seeking their first win in seven tries against an FBS opponent after losing at Kent State and LSU during the 2012 season.

It won't be Ambrose's first flashback game. The Tigers fell in a tight road game at Maryland in 2011, when Ambrose faced Randy Edsall—who was in his first year with the Terps after being the head coach at UConn, with Ambrose, prior to that.
