Towson Y Ribbon Cutting Scheduled for Saturday
The new building is the first LEED certified Y in Maryland.

The Y of Central Maryland is set to host a ribbon cutting ceremony on to celebrate the opening of the new Towson Family Center Y.
The ribbon cutting is set for 3 p.m., Saturday at 600 W. Chesapeake Avenue and will include a family fun event with a moon bounce, wall climbing and family swimming, according to a news release.
The new building is the first LEED certified Y in Maryland, and features two salt water pools, a state-of-the art fitness center, a health bar and fire place.

The new Y was not built without some controversy.
Although the plans for the building were altered to help alleviate neighbor concerns about the building’s height and lighting, several residents are still unhappy with the results.
