Truck Hits Hydrant, Causing Water Line Break on Regester Avenue
Traffic was briefly diverted between Wardman and Edgewood Roads as fire on Tuesday, police and water officials worked to stop two and a half hours of gushing water.
A tow truck backed into a fire hydrant in the 600 block of Regester Avenue on Tuesday, causing a water line to rupture and gush along a quarter mile of the street between Edgewood and Wardman roads.
The water spewed from under the hydrant from between about 12:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. before Baltimore City water crews shut off the water, which flooded the north lane of Regester Avenue and forced police to briefly divert traffic through the neighborhoods of Anneslie and Stoneleigh.
