2 Towson U. Students Dead in Separate Incidents

(Updated 9:20 p.m.)—Two students died Saturday in separate incidents: one died in his apartment, the other a victim of a hit-and-run.

Emergency crews responded to Timothy Allan Coyer's apartment in the 7700 block of Greenview Terrace, in the Towson Place complex, at about 2:25 p.m. Roommates had found Coyer unresponsive. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The police homicide unit was not called to the scene, according to police spokesman Lt. Rob McCullough.

Coyer's body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

According to the Stevensville native's Facebook profile, Coyer served in the U.S. Army from 2008 to 2011 and had fought in Iraq.

A member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity and Student Veterans Group, Coyer also worked as a bouncer at in Towson, according to his Facebook page.

But Saturday's first fatal incident occurred more than 12 hours earlier.

Ryan Bailey, a 20-year-old junior from Seaford, NY, was at about 1:45 a.m. in downtown Towson. Police are seeking the driver.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Bailey was a budding lacrosse player in high school who studied accounting and was considering pursuing a job on Wall Street.

Carol Dunsworth, a university spokeswoman, said a memorial service on campus is planned; details have not yet been finalized.

"I've been with the university 15 years and I cannot remember another weekend as tragic as this," Dunsworth said. "It's just an incredibly, incredibly horrific weekend for us."
