Vehicle Fire On I-695 Snarled Traffic

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A vehicle fire snarled traffic on the inner loop of the Baltimore beltway Monday afternoon near Towson.

Smoke was billowing from the car’s engine compartment, and flames were coming from the hood after 2:30 p.m.

Traffic was backing up on I-695 between York Road and Charles Street.

Two lanes were closed on the inner loop before York Road. The incident had cleared around 4 p.m., state transportation officials reported.
