Vehicle Fire Snarled I-695, I-83 Traffic Monday: Officials

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A vehicle fire on Interstate 695 jammed traffic on the Baltimore Beltway and I-83 Monday morning, according to officials.

The fire broke out on the inner loop of I-695 at the exit for the southbound Jones Falls Expressway after 7:30 a.m., authorities said.

Two right lanes were closed as well as the right shoulder on the inner loop, according to authorities. Backups extended to Greenspring Avenue as of 7:50 a.m.

Shortly after 8 a.m., transportation officials said the incident had cleared.

Traffic was flowing on I-83; however, congestion on I-695 continued.
