Walmart is closing this Baltimore County store, which has 207 employees.

TOWSON, MD — Walmart is closing its Towson store on April 5.

The company announced the news in a Wednesday press release. An employee also confirmed the news to Patch.

The store, located in Towson Place at 1238 Putty Hill Ave. Suite 5, will also close its pharmacy on April 5. Pharmacy staff will work with patients to transfer their prescriptions to a nearby Walmart.

This Walmart has 207 employees. They will be paid through June 14, and they were offered transfers to other locations. Associates will collect a severance package if they don't transfer.

There are no additional closures planned in this region.

"We are grateful to the customers who have given us the privilege of serving them at our store in Towson," Walmart spokesperson Alicia Anger said in the release. "We look forward to continuing to serve them at any of seven other locations across the area, on walmart.com and through delivery to their home or business."

Walmart also owns Sam's Club.

Between the two retailers, the company has 60 stores and more than 17,350 employees in Maryland.

Walmart said it donated $6.4 million to Maryland nonprofits in fiscal year 2023.
