West Towson Elementary Celebrates Environmental Work
School officials will unveil a LEED certification plaque following a Monday assembly.

The West Towson Elementary School community will celebrate the work they have done to become a Maryland Green School at a Monday assembly.
According to a news release, the school community has competed several projects to benefits the environment and increases students understanding of their impact on it.
Following the assembly, the school will unveil a LEED certification plaque in the school lobby, according to the release.

West Towson is Baltimore County Public Schools' first LEED certified building. Superintendent S. Dallas Dance is scheduled to attend the celebration.
The school, which opened in fall 2010, was built using materials from renewable sources and has a green roof, low-flow plumbing and energy efficient mechanical and electrical systems.
