UPDATED: West Towson Resident Shot By Burglar

A West Towson man was hospitalized early Sunday morning, as police investigate.

(Updated 1:44 p.m.)—A West Towson resident was wounded by an intruder early Sunday morning, and police said they have arrested a suspect.

Officers were called to the 500 block of Allegheny Avenue at approximately 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to police spokesman spokeswoman Detective Cathleen Batton.

There, police found a resident had been shot in the chest. The resident told police he arrived home to find an intruder, and the burglar shot him before fleeing.

Police later located the suspect near the intersection of Chesapeake and Bosley avenues. The suspect's name will be released following a bail hearing Sunday.

Police do not believe the victim was specifically targeted, Batton said in a statement. She said the investigation was ongoing.

The victim was taken to an unspecified hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
