Woodlawn Woman Delivers GBMC's First Baby of New Year
Mason Ivy Janiya Ludd was born at 1:29 a.m. New Year's Day.

Greater Baltimore Medical Center celebrated the birth of its first baby of the New Year at 1:29 a.m., just more than an hour after the first Baltimore area baby was born.
Mason Ivy Janiya Ludd is the first child for Masonita Robinson, a Woodlawn resident. Mason weighed in at eight pounds, 13 ounces.
"I'm so excited," she said. "I had prayed she'd be born on New Year's Day."

Robinson said her due date was initially slated for Dec. 27, 2012. She started dilating during a follow-up appointment and labor was induced.
Robinson said both she and Mason are in good health.

Greater Baltimore Medical Center delivers more than 4,000 babies a year, said Michael Schwartzberg, a spokesman for the Towson hospital, in an email.
Scott Michael claimed the title of first regional baby born with a birth time of 12:26 a.m. New Year's Day, CBS Baltimore reports. He was born at Franklin Square Hospital.
