Prince George's Back-to-School Bus Guide

Getting ready for school in the morning is always hectic – lunches need to be packed, outfits picked out, breakfast served – all in time to get your kids on the bus in time. 

So amidst all the chaos, knowing which bus stop to go to and when is essential.

In Prince George’s County, there are 80,219 students transported to and from school each day and 1,092 buses routed on 5,604 different bus routes, according the county. 

It’s important that students know when and where they can catch their bus.

• Use the county’s bus stop search feature, which will be available by mid-August, to locate your bus stop by address and individual school.
• In addition, students should be aware of their bus’ route number. Signs with the bus route number will be located on the side of the bus in the second window on the door side. 
• Buses will be assigned to elementary school students who live more than 1 mile from the school and middle and high school students who live more than 2 miles from their schools.
• The county recommends arriving at the bus stop 10 minutes before the arrival time, but if the bus is late, students and parents can contact the bus lot foreman at their area’s bus lot (Bladensburg, Brandywine, Crossland, Douglass, Forestville, Friendly, Goddard, Greenbelt, John Hanson, Laurel, Mullikin, Fairmont or Surrattsville).
