Upper Marlboro Teen Charged With Fatal Shooting Near VSU
Ryan Christopher Simms, 19, of Upper Marlboro, is charged with murder, felonious assault and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of an Upper Marlboro teen police say fatally shot a Petersburg, VA man Tuesday in a confrontation near the Virginia State University campus in Ettrick, according to The Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Police said a confrontation between two groups of young men near campus around 4:20 p.m. lead to a shooting. Police have identified two suspects in the shooting.
Ryan Christopher Simms, 19, is accused of fatally shooting Tyrail W. Hughes, 20. He also wounded another 18-year-old VSU student after he was struck by a stray bullet in the leg, police told the Times-Dispatch.

Police arrested Artarrius Jamar Stepter, 20, of Norfolk, VA, on Wednesday. He is charged with brandishing a firearm, the paper reported.
Simms, a student at VSU, is majoring in health, physical education and recreation/dance. He charged with murder, felonious assault and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
