Chamber Announces New Board Chair and 1st Term Board of Directors Beginning 2022

December 9, 2021 – The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the result of its Board of Directors elections, which took place at the Chamber Members Meeting on October 7, 2021.

Serving as Chair of the Board beginning 2022- 2024 is Valerie Giovagnoni, Manager of Communications & Change Management for Ting Internet. Ms. Giovagnoni shared her vision for the 2022 term by emphasizing a strong focus on community kindness. β€œI see 2022 as the year of kindness as chamber members share kindness at our networking events; spread kindness when they eat, shop, and do business with local chamber businesses; and show kindness by sponsoring local events that benefit our community.”

In addition to the Chair, five new Board of Directors have been elected. These include:

β€œI’m incredibly honored to have been selected to serve on the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Board,” said McDaniel College President Dr. Julia Jasken. β€œCarroll County plays a vital role in the support and education of our students, and I’m looking forward to continuing to strengthen that partnership in the months and years ahead.”

As Superintendent of Carroll County Public Schools, Dr. Lockard said, β€œAs a member of the county’s largest employer, I look forward to supporting the Chamber’s mission of building and supporting relationships with professionals, business owners, and community leaders in support of our business community and the entire Carroll community.”

Considering his personal Chamber interactions, Jon Weetman related, β€œThe Chamber is an amazing resource and has been of great benefit to me as a local business owner. I look forward to working with everyone to make Carroll County the absolute best place to do business. It is my honor to be serving and I’m excited to get started.”

Also describing enthusiasm about serving on the board, Lenny Mills said, β€œI look forward to continuing the contributions of Shelter Systems’ decades long commitment to the Chamber, and hope that I can add value serving the board,” while Lyndi McNulty expressed her feeling that Carroll County’s Chamber β€œis one of the best in the USA!”

New directors are eligible to serve two consecutive, three-year terms after which time they are asked to step down for a period of one year. After a one-year break, they are eligible to run again for a board of director position.

Mike McMullin reflected on his 11 years as President of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, saying, β€œWe have historically had talented Rock Stars serve on our board of 18 directors…this incoming group of new directors continues in the tradition of being local superstars! As we enter our 97th year of existence, I’m excited to work closely with them to help grow the business community of Carroll County.”
