Liber was carved from Indiana limestone and described as representing “the transformation from bark to pages of a book,” according to a statement from the Carroll County Public Library.
Israelson has been turning stone into art for more than two decades, according to the library. The Union Bridge educator and community-based artist has been the Maryland State Artist in Residence and was awarded first place in the first Biennial Maryland Regional Juried Art Exhibit.
