UPDATE: 2-Year-Old Injured in April Tractor Accident Heads Home
Logan Barnett was trapped under water and unresponsive when the ambulance arrived, according to his mother Ashley Barnett.
Two-year-old Logan Barnett was critically injured in a tractor accident on April 21. After spending almost two months between Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital and Kennedy Krieger Institute, he went home this week for the first time since his accident.
Logan's mother, Ashley Barnett, posted on her Facebook page Tuesday that Logan would be going home Wednesday. While at Hopkins the Barnetts were told Logan might be inpatient at Kennedy Krieger Institute for up to six months.
Logan still has work to do but has improved tremendously since arriving at Johns Hopkins in late April, according to Ashley's Facebook posts.
Ashley said she is thrilled that Logan has been weaned off all drugs and even though he will go home with a g-tube for nutrition, she is hoping he will have it removed soon.
Other changes Logan, or Logie Bear as his family and friends call him, has seen since the accident include now being left-handed when before the accident he was right-handed. Ashley said this week he could stand on his own for 20 seconds and last week he could only stand on his own for one second.
Logan will continue outpatient treatment but Ashley said she is thrilled just to have her whole family -- including her other two children and husband -- together in their home.
Ashley posted on her Facebook page Tuesday, "Tomorrow will be a huge day, Logan will be home safe and sound with us!"
