Thanks to creative imagination and inventive activity planning, residents of The Terraces at Westminster experienced a “A Week at the Met” in celebration of National Assisted Living Week®. From exploring the history of the iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art to a fabulous “Met Gala” finale, participants had countless opportunities to learn, share and be inspired, according to Amy Dever, executive director of The Terraces at Westminster.

“Entertaining and educational programming is vital to the fulfilling lifestyle our residents enjoy here at Westminster,” said Dever. “Our Life Enrichment team took an artful approach to the theme of this year’s Assisted Living Week – ‘Inspiring Generations’ – and developed some truly unique ways to excite, engage and enhance our sense of community.”

Established by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) in 1995, National Assisted Living Week offers opportunities for personal care residents and their loved ones, professionals and volunteers to recognize and celebrate the importance of assisted living care for seniors and individuals with disabilities.

The Terraces at Westminster Life Enrichment lead Britany Forrest noted that the community enjoyed daily art-themed events that included flower and fashion shows featuring residents and staff, art galleries, musical performances, history lessons, and more. To close out the festivities, residents donned their finest red-carpet looks and gathered for a “Met Gala” watch party.

“This week was all about celebrating our residents and making them feel special,” said Forrest. “Not only did they enjoy learning about some of the world’s greatest works of art, but also sharing new experiences as well as their own artistic talents created many memorable moments for everyone involved.”
