WHEATON, MD — Authorities have arrested a man they say stabbed a 40-year-old woman as she and her children were getting into her vehicle in Wheaton.

Christian Norman, 32, of an unknown address, was charged with first-degree assault, court records revealed.

The incident happened outside a home on Arcola Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday.

Montgomery County police said the woman had lacerations and puncture wounds, was taken to a hospital. The children were not injured.

A knife was located at the scene, according to police, and Norman was found about a quarter-mile from the home with blood on his clothing. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police said that Norman, who had injuries on his face, did not know the woman he stabbed. They also said he wouldn't tell officers about his injuries.

Norman is currently being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 19.
