BURTONSVILLE, MD — Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Monday afternoon in Burtonsville. At about 2:53 p.m. Monday, police received a call for the report of an assault happening inside a car at the intersection of Cedar Tree Drive and Red Maple Court. Officers responded to the scene and determined the car was no longer there, but they did find evidence that indicated a possible shooting happened, police said. Police were then notified by a local hospital at 3:22 p.m. that a man had been dropped off at the hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.Officers are interviewing witnesses and canvassing the neighborhood to gather information about the shooting. Anyone with information regarding this shooting is urged to call the 3rd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6870.
