Suspects Charged in 'Weed Dealer's' 2012 Murder

Police say two people have been arrested for the shooting of a suspected drug dealer at his White Oak apartment.

Two people have been charged with a 2012 murder, in what Montgomery County Police say was a shooting sparked by an unpaid debt a drug dealer owed a customer.

Imani Cook, 26, of the 11400 block of July Drive in White Oak has been charged with murder, robbery and accessory to murder.

Steven Webster, 26, of the 13000 block of Old Stage Coach Road in Laurel has been charged with murder, robbery, first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit a murder.

On Dec. 7, Jesse Patrick Campos, of the 11400 block of July Drive, was shot inside his apartment, according to a previous Patch story. Investigators say two suspects tried to get into the residence by forcing a roommate to open the door. After the suspects were inside the apartment, they reportedly shot Campos and fled, leaving the male roommate and another adult female uninjured.

Officials say Cook lived in the same apartment complex as Campos. Charging documents say Cook identified Campos as her “weed dealer.” Cook claims Campos had accepted a loan from her, which he had not repaid according to police. She told this information to a friend who has been identified as a third suspect.

Webster and the third suspect reportedly entered Campos’ apartment armed with handguns and shot him, according to police.

The third suspect faces unrelated charges in another jurisdiction. Charges for the White Oak homicide from Montgomery County are pending.
