AUBURN, MA — Two shoplifters stopped for fries at Wendy's, and it landed them in trouble with the law.

Two women made off with more than $2,000 worth of merchandise from T.J. Maxx on Aug. 13, Auburn police said. The pair fled in a truck with Connecticut plates and made a pit stop at Wendy's, where they were caught.

"Apparently satisfied with their five-finger discount, the two decided to celebrate with a pit stop at Wendy’s because nothing says perfect getaway plan like sitting in a drive-thru line for fast food… directly across the street from the store you just stole from," Auburn police wrote in a statement.

Sgt. Gregg Wildman spotted the vehicle and arrested the pair of women.

"Unfortunately, for them, Sgt. Wildman was working, and he is no stranger to the Wendy’s drive-thru," wrote Auburn police. "If Wendy’s had a frequent flyer program, he’d already have a lifetime platinum status."

When looking through the merchandise, detectives discovered additional items believed to have been stolen from other stores.

Dominque Marion, 38, of Worcester, and Tynaja Williams, 24, of New Haven, CT, were charged with Larceny Over $1,200 and Conspiracy.

"Moral of the story: Felonies do not come with a side of fries," Auburn police wrote.
