Aide To MA Gov. Healey Arrested On Cocaine Trafficking Charges
Cocaine was delivered to the Springfield State Office Building, the district attorney's office said.
SPRINGFIELD, MA — An aide to Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey was charged with trafficking cocaine.
Lamar Cook, 45, was arrested Tuesday night "while operating his vehicle in Springfield," the Hampden County District Attorney's Office said in a media release.
Cook was charged with trafficking cocaine, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Cook is listed as the "Deputy Director, Governors Western Mass Office" on his LinkedIn profile, which says he has held the position for two years and seven months.

Healey's press secretary, Karissa Hand, failed to respond to questions about Cook. A Healey spokesperson told The Hill that Cook was fired when his arrest came to light.
Investigators seized parcels of cocaine weighing about 21 kilograms, including 8 kilograms intercepted as it was delivered to the Springfield State Office Building, where Cook worked, according to the district attorney's media release.

On Oct. 10, "investigators intercepted and searched two suspicious packages at Hotel UMass in Amherst, which were found to contain approximately 13 kilograms of suspected cocaine," according to the release.
"Evidence collected during that operation was consistent with the narcotics recovered during the most recent controlled delivery in Springfield," the release said. "The investigation into the UMass seizure remains ongoing and may result in additional charges related to the prior shipments in Hampshire County."
