MASSACHUSETTS — Airbnb said that spontaneous travel is up, with visitors seeking "one-of-a-kind" experiences. From architectural gems to glamping domes to treehouses, travelers are exploring some of the most wishlisted stays across the 50 states.

The most wishlisted Airbnb in Massachusetts is a whimsical, storybook mountain home: the Gingerbread House Tower in the Berkshire Hills.

The two-bedroom home accommodates four guests. The stay is in Tyringham, a town of 427 about seven miles east of Stockbridge.

The Gingerbread House Tower is described as a "one-of-a-kind loft with tower bedchamber (that) offers guests a fairytale experience." The home is situated on a four-acre property with gardens, a lily pond, stone bridges, a running brook, and a stone bench area.

Guests can "spend the day on the grounds, walking nearby trails, or exploring the many nearby Berkshire towns."

The home has received rave reviews, averaging 4.99 stars out of 292 reviews.

Airbnb said that its data shows that trips booked less than a week before travel has been the fastest growing segment over the last three years, with many of those being nearby excursions.

And many of those are unique homes in fabulous natural settings, like the Spectacular Spyglass Treehouse in Occidental, California, and the Eagles Nest Treehouse in Wardensville, West Virginia.

Homes with fascinating architecture are also featured, like Still Bend/Frank Lloyd Wright's Schwartz House in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.
