Applegreen Drops Out Of Project To Redevelop 18 Mass. Highway Service Plazas, Citing Litigation Threats

Waltham-based Global Partners, which lost the bid to take over the service plazas, has been challenging the decision in court.

The company that won the bid to redevelop 18 highway service plazas in Massachusetts is dropping out of the project. In a statement on Tuesday, Applegreen, a company founded in Ireland, said it was not able to reach an agreement with MassDOT.

"After three months of good faith negotiations, Applegreen and MassDOT have not reached an agreement on definitive terms for the redevelopment of 18 motorway service areas in Massachusetts," the company said.

Applegreen also cited legal costs. Waltham-based Global Partners, which lost the bid to take over the service plazas, has been challenging the decision in court.
