MASSACHUSETTS — From upcoming layoffs at a local TJ Maxx to a Bay State airport landing on a national ranking, it's been a busy week in Massachusetts business news.

Popular Boston TJ Maxx Location Closing

The TJ Maxx location on Boston's Newbury Street has plans to close early next year. A spokesperson for the discount department store chain told CBS News that the store is expected to shutter by Jan. 3.

There are currently 25 TJ Maxx locations in the Bay State, including in Framingham, Waltham and Newton.

MA Airport Among Best In The U.S.

Boston Logan Airport was ranked among the best mega airports in the country, according to a J.D. Power study. Logan Airport ranked No. 10 among other mega airports in North America, scoring 608 points out of 1,000 for its overall customer satisfaction index rating.

The firm's study draws on feedback from more than 30,000 U.S. or Canadian travelers between July 2024 and July 2025.

Spirit Christmas Announces MA Stores

Spirit Halloween has announced that two of its stores in Massachusetts will be transformed into Spirit Christmas stores this year. Those locations will be in North Attleborough, at 1360 S. Washington St., and North Dartmouth at 65 Faunce Corner Mall Rd.

North Shore Town Trying To Lure Salem Residents Away For Halloween

Nearly two dozen businesses in Marblehead are looking to attract Salem residents. A coalition of shops and restaurants in the town shared a promotion, writing, "Are you a Salem resident who needs a break from the Halloween madness? Come to Marblehead and enjoy a relaxing meal or shopping excursion without the crowds."

Salem residents who show their ID as proof of residence will receive a 10 percent discount in all participating Marblehead locations for the entire month. You can find a complete list of the places here.
