Boston Celtics Sold To Private Equity Director For $6.1B: Report
The Boston Celtics have a new owner, and it's a Massachusetts native - William Chisholm, managing director of Symphony Technology Group.

MASSACHUSETTS - William Chisholm, managing director and co-founder of Symphony Technology Group, has purchased a majority stake in the Boston Celtics, according to the Boston Globe.
Chisholm grew up in Georgetown, MA, and graduated from Dartmouth College. The Celtics ownership group, headed by Wyc Grousbeck, announced the sale of 51% of the team last July. Symphony Technology Group is a California-based private equity firm.
The $6.1 billion price tag makes this the highest sum ever for a North American sports team, according to NBA Insider Shams Charania. The previous record belonged to billionaire Josh Harris' $6.05 billion purchase of the NFL's Washington Commanders last summer.

The Boston Celtics won the NBA Finals last summer, defeating the Dallas Mavericks in six games. They're currently 50-19, and one of the favorites to win the championship this year.
