Dozens Of Elementary Students Stung By Bees On First Day Of School In Ashland
The students were getting off the bus when they were stung.

ASHLAND, MA — The first day of school didn't go quite as planned for one group of students in Ashland.
Dozens of students heading to Mindness Elementary School were stung by bees as they got off the bus on Wednesday, according to the town's fire department. Around 40 people were assessed, and luckily, the students were taken to the hospital.
The incident was caused by an underground bees' nest near the end of the bus loop, according to a community letter, obtained by Boston.com.

“I want to commend our firefighters and paramedics for their rapid and professional response to ensure the safety of all students,” said Fire Chief Keith Robie. “We also appreciate the cooperation of the Mindess School staff in helping to manage the situation calmly and effectively.”
