First Major Snow To Blast MA With Wintry Mix At Coast: See Latest Forecast
Location will determine how much heavy snow and how much rain you receive across the Bay State on Tuesday.

MASSACHUSETTS — The first major winter storm of the season will bring heavy snow to parts of Massachusetts, while other areas deal with a messy wintry mix, on Tuesday as location and elevation are key to how much will pile up where you are.
"Although uncertainty remains with respect to specific totals, the threat for significant snow accumulations across the interior is rising, with more than 6 inches possible north and west of the I-95 corridor," the National Weather Service said on Monday morning.
The snow is expected to start late morning on Tuesday and mix with rain — or remain all rain — along the coast and down through the South Shore. The messy mix will continue through much of the day inside of Route 128 with accumulations on the low, slushy side between 1 to 3 inches.

Beyond Route 495 — in the Merrimack Valley and Worcester Hills — is where the snow will be the heaviest, with up to 8 inches of wet snow possible across the higher terrain of North-Central Massachusetts.
The storm will linger into Tuesday night before things turn calmer and much colder at the end of the week.

Lows on Friday morning could be in the single digits, with highs struggling to reach the 20s.
The next chance for snow after Tuesday comes over the weekend with another rain/snow mix possible on Saturday or Sunday.
