Heat Advisories Issued In Massachusetts As 2-Day Wave Begins
Most parts of central and eastern Massachusetts will experience dangerous heat and humity through Friday, forecasts say.
MASSACHUSETTS — The National Weather Service has issued heat advisories for almost every part of eastern and central Massachusetts, warning of possible heat indices in the mid-90s on Thursday and Friday.
Cities including Boston, Worcester, Lowell and New Bedford could all see heat indices above 90 during the 48-hour stretch of heat, according to forecasts. The heat advisories caution against excessive outdoor activity during daytime hours.
"Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke," the weather service advised.

Cape Cod is not under a heat advisory. Most of northwestern Worcester County and all of Franklin, Berkshire and Hampden counties are also exempt.
Thursday and Friday will also be mostly dry, meaning no real chances of relief from passing storms. Temperatures will stay relatively high through the weekend, but scattered thunderstorms will be more likely, according to the weather service.
