You might have choice words for the traffic. The cost of a home is eye-popping. The Pats somehow lost to the lowly Raiders.

But one new analysis has news for you: Massachusetts is the best state to live in. The Bay State's strengths in education, health, and safety helped it land that distinction for the second year in a row.

Personal finance website WalletHub compared the 50 states on 51 "key indicators of livability." These factors range from housing costs and income growth to the education rate and quality of hospitals.

Here's how Massachusetts ranked in some of those categories.

  • Affordability: 44
  • Economy: 9
  • Education and health: 1
  • Quality of life: 6
  • Safety: 6

Digging a bit deeper into these numbers, WalletHub noted that Massachusetts has the second-highest median household income at over $100,000 and the third-lowest property crime rate in the U.S. Good access to public transportation and the highest share of residents with health insurance coverage also helped it secure the top spot.
