AccuWeather forecasters have studied what winter 2022/22 will bring.

MASSACHUSETTS — No New Englander expects their winters to be mild – and this year is no different.
According to AccuWeather’s recently released 2022-23 winter forecast, the region is looking at above normal snowfall amounts – the only place in the country where that's expected outside of the Rocky Mountains.
Snowfall totals will be boosted by expected nor'easters, with the highest chance of the storms hitting being in January and March, AccuWeather said.

"Boston may end up being the only major city along the Interstate 95 corridor that finishes the winter with near-normal snowfall," the long-range forecast says. Up to 50 inches of snow is expected to fall – below last year's total of 54 inches for the city but slightly above the average of 49.2 inches.
Last year, 23.5 inches fell in a single blizzard on Jan. 29.

The forecaster warned that the prediction was particularly tricky this year because it's the third consecutive winter that La Niña is shaping weather patterns. A La Niña occurs when Pacific Ocean temperatures near the equator are cooler than normal, influencing the jet stream and overall weather patterns in North America.
No two La Niña winters are the same.
The first official day of winter is Dec. 21.
