Dental insurance provider to lay off 50 workers in Worcester

Dental Benefit Management, otherwise known as BeneCare Dental Plans, filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the state, claiming it would lay off 50 workers from Jan. 31 to Mar. 31.

BeneHealth administers the MassHealth Dental Program. But MassHealth will be transitioning from BeneCare to DentaQuest in early 2026, according to an October news release from the state.
Pink Domino in downtown Newton is officially closing its doors on Sunday, Dec. 14, after more than three decades in downtown Newton Centre.
It first opened at 1280 Centre St. in Piccadilly Square by former owner Wendy Livingston, until Marjorie Kaplan purchased the company 12 years ago.
Indoor golf facility and bar now open in Burlington
Birdie Bar, an indoor golf facility and bar, is located at 154 Cambridge St. and opened Dec. 4. The new spot is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Owner of PiNZ Bowl in Milford charged after using government money for home and vehicles
David Breen, a South Carolina businessman and owner of PiNZ in Milford, was charged in federal court in Worcester with COVID relief fraud on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
He was accused of using more than $1.2 million in Economic Injury and Disaster Loan money to build himself a home, purchase a $111,000 truck, and put a down payment on a $98,289 Mercedes.
