Legendary MA TV Anchor Retires After Over 4 Decades On Air
A longtime TV news and sports anchor signed off Friday, signaling the end of 37 years with the station.
SPRINGFIELD, MA — 22News veteran anchor Rich Tettemer is retiring after over 40 years in the business, the TV station announced recently.
Tettemer began his career in 1984 as a videotape editor at a Tampa TV station. He then went on to be a sports anchor in Missouri before joining the 22News team in 1988.
He served on the sports desk for over 18 years.

"He stood with us through the glory years, covering all the unforgettable Patriots Super Bowl victories," according to 22News. "In locker rooms, on parade routes, and in the hearts of fans, Rich captured the emotion behind every win."
Then in 2004, after 86 long years, the Red Sox finally broke the curse in what Tettemer referred to as "the pinnacle of his sports career."

He then moved on to anchor the morning news in 2006. His last day with the station was Friday.
Tettemer is a graduate of the University of South Florida where he earned a bachelor's degree in mass communications and broadcasting.
He was voted best sportscaster by the readers of the Springfield Advocate and the Valley Advocate, according to his bio. He also landed 13 Associated Press Awards from 1994 to 2006.
Tettemer has served as co-host of the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon since 1989.
He is being honored by the Springfield Regional Chamber as the 2025 Richard Moriarty Citizen of the Year, who described him as "a cornerstone of the Greater Springfield Community."
