Here's When And Where To Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day This Weekend: MA Events

From literary trivia to a Cape Cod scavenger hunt and brewery popups, here's what to know ahead of Indie Bookstore Day in Massachusetts.

MASSACHUSETTS — It isn't so much a question of what there is to do in the Boston area and beyond, but rather, what should locals do?

Welcome to Patch's latest weekly roundup of highlight-worthy events across the city and surrounding areas. We've compiled them into one, easy-to-follow list, for your weekend planning.

This Saturday marks Independent Bookstore Day, a celebration of local, indie booksellers, and a chance to support them. Many of them, to celebrate the day themselves, will host events, activations and sales this weekend.

An Unlikely Story, in Plainville, will host Literary Trivia as part of their celebrations. All proceeds from the event will go towards the Book Industry Charitable Foundation.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three winners, with first place receiving a $250 gift card to the store, second place receiving a $100 gift card and third place receiving a $50 gift card. To sign up, click here.

Sea Howl, in Orleans, will also celebrate the day with various events and goodies, including free donuts, tote bags for anyone who spends over $100 and other exclusive Indie Bookstore Day items.

The store will also host a bookstore scavenger hunt! Three sets of clues will be hidden from the store, and a secret password can get you access to the first clue. Shoppers can follow the clues to win one of two $50 gift cards to Sea Howl or a Libro.fm Golden Ticket, worth a year’s supply of audiobook credits, a $180 value.
