In the publication's list of the best places to visit for 2026, one Bay State locale was among the 30 places featured.

MASSACHUSETTS — History lovers, sports fanatics and pub-goers have one thing in common: They love heading to Boston.

So much so that the city found itself among the top 30 best places to visit for 2026 in U.S. News & World Report's recent list of best U.S. vacations.

The ranking is split evenly between what readers think and what the publication's editors believe, with several categories that factor into the decision-making process.

Here's what the publication had to say about Boston:

"The capital of Massachusetts offers activities for all types of travelers. The Freedom Trail, which stretches more than 2 miles from Boston Common to the Bunker Hill Monument, offers a terrific overview of the city's rich history, while Fenway Park is a must-see attraction for baseball fans. What's more, Boston is home to numerous pubs, food markets and shopping thoroughfares, as well as top-notch universities known for their stately architecture, picturesque green spaces and wicked-smart students. Meanwhile, art aficionados can browse the collections at the Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum."

Grand Canyon National Park came in at number one on the list, with U.S. News citing its "bucket list" designation among the reasons why.
