This MA Highway Named Among America's 'Most Loathed'
Which traffic-clogged road do drivers consider the worst in the state and among the worst in the country? A recent survey has the answer.
ACROSS MASSACHUSETTS — It's no surprise that on the list of "America's Most Loathed Highways" one Massachusetts road made the cut. I-93 received the dubious honor in the rankings from Gunther Volvo Cars.
The highway ranked No. 35 on the list. The rankings of the country's top 100 most loathed roads were derived from a survey of 3,000 drivers.
"I-93: Especially in and around Boston, this interstate often sees traffic jams," the report noted.

California's US-101 was No. 1, or dead last, depending on your perspective. The rankings noted that particularly in San Francisco and Los Angeles, the highway is "recognized for its significant traffic congestion and frequent bottlenecks."
California also claimed the second and third spots on the list with I-5 and I-405.

New England was well represented on the list, too, though not in the top 10.
Connecticut's I-95 came in at No. 11, a fact no one who has ever driven on the road would be surprised about. The interstate is especially busy in the southwestern part of the state from Bridgeport to Stamford.
I-95 was popular on the list in New England. It appears again in New Hampshire, ranking No. 24, in Rhode Island at No. 41, and in Maine, at No. 27, which was noted for its heavy seasonal traffic.
Rhode Island's I-195 came in at No. 17, and US 1 in Maine ranked No. 48.
I-84 in Connecticut ranked as No. 26 on the list. The report noted that around Hartford, this road can be especially congested.
Correction: A previous version of this story misnamed the Rhode Island highway included on the list.
