We're Getting -20 Wind Chills Tonight: Here's What To Know
Wind chills will bottom out at around minus-20 degrees in Boston and Worcester and closer to minus-30 in the coldest parts of the state.

Forecasters are warning Massachusetts residents ahead of low temperatures and powerful winds that will bring devastating wind chills to the region over the next 24 hours.
Even with a significant storm days away, the focus is on wind chills that will bottom out at around minus-20 degrees in Boston and Worcester and closer to minus-30 in the coldest parts of the state out west.
"You may have seen these graphics before, but we can't emphasize enough that it will be very windy this afternoon and early evening across [Southeastern Mass.,] the Cape, and Islands," the National Weather Service tweeted Friday morning.

Gusts will reach 50 miles per hour in most areas, but ratchet up to 60-70 m.p.h for the Cape and Nantucket.
A wind chill advisory is in effect for most of the state from 7 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday. The low wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

In Buffalo, wind chills will be below zero for the Patriots playoff game against the Bills Saturday night.
On the other side of the sub-zero wind chills, Massachusetts will see a major storm heading into Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The brunt of the storm will be overnight Sunday into Monday morning, when some snow, but mostly a wintry mix of ice and rain, will fall across the much of the state. Higher snow totals will be farther west.
