MASSACHUSETTS — Welcome to Patch's weekly round up of food and restaurant news in Massachusetts, where we review openings, closings and more in the state's dining scene.
This week, we learned that the state would be getting yet another Chick-fil-A, bringing the chicken chain's presence in the Bay State up to 20.
Chick-fil-A will open its latest restaurant within the Highland Commons in Hudson, 4A Highland Commons East.

The restaurant chain said the location would open on June 5, bringing about 100 jobs to Hudson in the process.
Chick-fil-A Highland Commons is one of seven new restaurants opening in Massachusetts this year, followed by five to eight more expected restaurants by the end of 2027, restaurant officials said. Together, the new restaurants will collectively create 1,600 jobs for local residents and lead to at least $300,000 in donations to fight food insecurity across the state.

That donation piece will also happen in Hudson, with the restaurant celebrating the opening with a $25,000 donation from Chick-fil-A, Inc. to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of the Greater Boston Food Bank.
Bradley Spurlock will be the local owner-operator of the location, and has made additional commitments to give back to Hudson. Spurlock is a longtime employee of the chain, and even met his now-wife while working at a restaurant together.
“I’m thrilled and humbled to serve as the local Owner-Operator of the first Chick-fil-A in Hudson,” said Spurlock. “To me, this restaurant goes beyond serving our Guests great food. Chick-fil-A Highland Commons is a reminder that where you start in life doesn’t have to determine where you end up. I look forward to mentoring our team in the same way my Chick-fil-A mentors helped shape my future.”
In addition to the $25,000 donation, Spurlock said this location would give back by "recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Hudson community" by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
The location will also participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program, which redirects surplus food to local nonprofits and has helped to create over 35 million meals to date.
