Monday Powerball Jackpot Now $1.55B: What To Know In MA

Two lucky Massachusetts residents won $1 million in Saturday's drawing. You have another shot at the full $1.5 billion tonight.

MASSACHUSETTS — Lottery players in Massachusetts have another chance at winning big after another drawing passed without a grand prize winner, fattening Monday night’s estimated Powerball jackpot to $1.55 billion.

Numbers drawn Saturday were white balls 47, 54, 57, 60 and 65. The red Powerball was 19. The Power Play multiplier was 3X.

The jackpot, which has a cash value of $679.8 million, is the third-largest in Powerball history and the fourth-largest among U.S. lotteries. Most jackpot winners take the cash, rather than an annuity that spreads payments over 20 years.

More than 4.5 million tickets worth from $2 to $2 million were sold for Saturday’s drawing. Ten tickets that matched all five white balls and worth $1 million were sold in California, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts (two), Michigan, Ohio, Texas (two) and Wisconsin.

Two players — one in Iowa and the other in Maine — also matched all five white balls, but also played the multiplier and were worth $2 million.

Other big wins include 85 tickets that won $50,000 prizes, and 27 tickets that won $150,000 prizes.

Monday’s drawing will be the 35th drawing in the jackpot run, and the first time in Powerball history that back-to-back jackpot cycles have generated billion-dollar grand prizes. The Powerball jackpot was previously won July 19, when a ticket in California won a jackpot worth $1.08 billion.

Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. More than half of all proceeds from the sale of a Powerball ticket remain in the jurisdiction where the ticket was sold. Powerball drawings are broadcast live every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. EST from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee.

The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
