More Than 150 Animals Removed From Hadley Property During Cruelty Investigation: MSPCA

HADLEY, MA — An animal cruelty investigation led to the removal of more than 150 animals from a property in Hadley, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals-Angell reported.
"The majority of the animals are birds, including farm birds like chickens and geese, as well as domestic birds, such as cockatiels and parrots," MSPCA-Angell said in a Facebook post.

"There are also goats, cows, pigs, sheep, rabbits, and one pony. Additionally, there are some wildlife that are illegal to have as pets in Massachusetts, including a deer and some Canada geese," the post said.

Many of the animals had been deprived of adequate food and water, according to the post, and most were also living without sufficient shelter.

MSPCA Law Enforcement obtained a warrant to remove the animals and conducted the ensuing operation with the assistance of Hadley police, according to the post.
The animals were taken to MSPCA-Angell, where they were evaluated, the post said.
