Motorcyclist And Moose Killed In Collision: Berkshire DA
The motorcycle operator crashed into a moose on Route 7 in Great Barrington, the district attorney's office said.

GREAT BARRINGTON, MA — A motorcycle operator and moose were killed in a collision on Route 7 in Great Barrington on Thursday, the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office said.
Wyeth Curtis, 20, was operating a Kawasaki motorcycle when he crashed into a moose about 10:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Route 7 between the Great Barrington Recycling Center and the Monument Mountain Trustees Reservation parking lot, the district attorney's office said in a media release.

"When law enforcement arrived, they discovered both the motorcyclist and a moose on the pavement in the southbound lane," the release said. "Initial investigations showed that a moose stepped onto the southbound lane and was struck by the motorcyclist."

Curtis hit the pavement just south of the fallen moose, according to the release.
"Based on evidence from the scene, the motorcycle (without driver) continued to travel southbound after the collision, eventually coming to rest in the northbound lane," the release said. "Two additional vehicles that were traveling in the northbound lane, a Subaru Forester and a Honda Civic, also suffered a collision in the northbound lane."

The preliminary investigation indicates the Forester and the Civic collided due to the downed motorcycle in the northbound lane, according to the release.
